 Established in 2004 we are now one of the last true indie shops in the county. We stock a wide range of titles; from chart to leftfield new releases, a great depth of stock within such diverse genres as folk, metal, dance, indie, world music, jazz, blues... You name it we've either got it or will have a damn good go at getting it!

Rapture Entertainment first opened its doors in Witney back in 2004, starting out in a music retail industry in crisis… 6 years later they are one of the last indie shops standing in the country and are firmly established at the heart of Witney’s music community.

Key to the shops success is a dedication to the lost art of customer service. Rapture’s ethos is to make an in store environment where anyone can feel comfortable browsing or seeking advice from the knowledgeable staff. For its small size Rapture keeps an impressively diverse and interesting range of titles in stock with a constantly changing selection on offer… Due to this quick turnover they can offer an efficient ordering service across both music and DVD, most titles arriving within a couple of days of ordering and of course the guys will happily try and track down rarities and imports!

In store you’ll find a healthily stocked chart wall with every major release, critically acclaimed albums highlighted to catch your eye and themed displays to whet your appetite for something new! There is also a deeply diverse and competitively priced back catalogue section with many a bargain to be had, particularly the new ‘3 for £20’ offer. The shop also has dedicated sections for jazz, blues, classical, folk, world music, reggae, soundtracks, metal & punk and a lovingly curated ‘alternative corner’ for discovering new and challenging music!

Staff will always be on hand to help you find what you’re looking for, even if you’ve only caught half the artists name on the radio or “you think it’s got the word ‘love’ in the chorus!” 

The shop caters for a wide ranging clientele with many extremely loyal customers giving the shop a real friendly community feel; this branches out into Rapture’s involvement with the local music scene. As-well as displaying gig posters for local venues and stocking CD’s from local bands the shop has a special relationship with Witney’s main live venue Fat Lil’s, regularly hosting gigs and selling tickets for the venue. Rapture is also heavily involved with local music festivals such as Truck, Wychwood and Cornbury, where they have been the festivals on-site CD seller since the festival’s launch.

Recent years has seen the expansion of the Rapture identity into a new store in Evesham and into the realm of online retail and mail order, something they aim to   further develop this year, hoping to translate their customer service onto a wider scale and be a local indie for anyone, anywhere!
