The Old Court Hotel

a relaxed atmosphere, great food and stylish surroundings

The Old Court Hotel dates back to the early 1800s and takes its name from the Old Court house which was located opposite. The lawyers and their (sometimes nefarious) clients would meet to discuss proceedings in the inn before going to court. This is celebrated by the Old Court’s sign which depicts a running lawyer clutching his papers.

The Old Court Hotel is well sited as a base for touring the ancient towns and villages of the Cotswolds. Magnificent Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, with spectacularly beautiful grounds designed by Capability Brown, is only a few miles away, as are the dreaming spires of Oxford. Travel just a bit further and you can brush up your Shakespeare in Stratford. Witney itself is an interesting old market town famed for its blankets. The town boasts a leisure centre, golf course, football and rugby clubs and the unique Cogges Farm Museum.

The Old Court Hotel has turned over a new leaf. ALL our rooms have been refurbished to a high standard, with easy on the eye tasteful decor, with well placed mixture of modern and antique furniture to give our rooms a warm homely feel.

Good food is our passion. Only fresh, seasonal ingredients make it onto the menu with fish and local steak a specialty. Whether you are popping in for a simple light lunch, planning a big celebration, you can choose from mouth-watering classics to virtuoso specialties like our Thursday Thai night from our inspired chef.

Meet your family and friends for a long relaxed traditional Sunday lunch from the Carvery. For only £7.95 or for the small appetite and for children £4.95.  There is a choice of roast meat, cooked to perfection, served with mounds of crunchy roast potatoes and all the trimmings. Enjoy a long, relaxed traditional lunch from the carvery form 12-6 pm. Even the humble sandwich is transformed with delicious crusty white breads, nutty-flavoured granaries and a variety of fillings which change every day. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 7-11am, lunch 12-2.30pm and dinner 6-9.30pm.
